Q. Can I withhold my address or telephone number
details from my listing?
Yes.
Unlike other directories, our listings are designed to
suit all types of business.
Businesses may have premises and websites, only
premises or only websites. Other businesses are purely
website resources.
Your listing can include or withhold the necessary
information to suit your business style.
However, to preserve the integrity and usefulness of the
directory, we review every website to ensure that it
meets our guidelines.
Q. What are your entry guidelines?
Our guidelines are to ensure a high quality UK
business directory:
UK Businesses only.
English language sites only.
No adult or gambling sites.
No sites containing offensive language or material.
No sites with holding pages or under construction.
No gateway, divert or pure links sites.
Q. Can I be listed more than once?
Unlike other directories, we do not limit you to one
category.
All paid listings can be listed within multiple relevant categories.
You will therefore already be listed multiple times.
However, each business can only be listed once within
any particular category.
Q. What if I cannot find suitable categories in which to place my
business?
Do not worry, one of the many advantages of our
directory is that we can create new categories.
Other
directory providers do not usually offer this,
having just a few, fixed, broad, categories for
ease of management.
We will not let your business become lost amongst so
many others in this way.
While completing your listing entry you can select from
existing or suggest new categories.
Did you notice that we say categories, plural?
We are aware that businesses may offer more than one
product or service. Sometimes these are very similar but
require distinction.
We therefore create many highly specific categories and
your business can be listed under a number of these
depending on your level of listing.
This extra exposure is a standard feature of all our
paid advertising packages.
Q. Can I include my Standard Listing in additional
categories?
We would definitely recommend this option due to the
much greater exposure that is achievable for your
business.
Our Standard Listing can be included in extra
categories at just £5 per additional category per year.
For example, if you
sell/repair cameras, you could list your business under:
Camera Retailers, Photographic Equipment, Digital
Camera Shops, Camera Repairs, Photography Services.
Q. Can I have my own page within WebPointer?
Yes by choosing a Premier Listing.
This is a great feature of WebPointer and provides a lot
of exposure.
You can have a dedicated page which is a bit like having
a second mini website for your business.
This carefully designed
page can be indexed by external search engines just like
your own website and be found in their results in the
same way.
In addition your business gets priority placement in up
to 6 categories within the directory and appears as an
individual company result in WebPointer Search.
Q. How do I list my Products and Services on
WebPointer?
This information can be added within the short
description of a Standard Listing.
Premier Listings provide you with an entire page where
all information you wish to provide about your business,
products, services and much more can be included.
Your various products and services are also indicated by virtue of WebPointer's
very specific category names that include you.
In addition, unlike many directories where visitors can
only browse for what they need, we also include a search
facility which will return your business if it matches
the products and services (or any other terms in your
listing text) that have been entered.
Q. How do I change my business details?
You can contact us by email anytime with changes to your
listing.
We will check for correct formatting, typing errors, etc
and apply changes to your listing very quickly.
Q. In what order are businesses listed?
Higher level listings are displayed above lower level
listings
on category pages.
Premier above Deluxe, Deluxe above Standard and so on.
When using the search box, businesses with Premier listings
appear in results with their individual webpage listing in addition to
the category pages that include them.
Businesses with Deluxe and Standard listings do not have an
individual webpage and therefore searches return just
the category pages that include them.
Q. How else does being listed in WebPointer help me?
As well as being found both from visitors to our
directory and our pages appearing in external search
engine results, our links to your website from relevant
pages in our directory,
increase it's search engine positioning by the process
of Link Popularity.
Link Popularity is a now
well known method by which Internet search engines
such as Google, Yahoo and MSN, judge the importance of websites.
In its' simplest description, link popularity means that
the more sites that link to your site, the more
important your site will be regarded by search engines
and they will therefore rank it more highly.
The more pages and the more relevant those pages
are that link to your site, the better.
That is why we place the links to your website on
multiple category pages that have relevance to your
website's subject.
Q. Can I add my
business if I am outside of the UK?
WebPointer is currently only available to UK based
businesses.
Q. What if I wish to cancel my listing in WebPointer?
Advertising in The WebPointer Business Directory incurs no set up fee and you can cancel your entry at any time only paying for the period that you have been
listed.
