Poldark mine is a free entry heritage site with something for all the family. Follow in the Footsteps of 18th Century Cornish Tin Miners and enjoy a wide range of other activities.
Unique prehistoric evidence of working for alluvial tin, the site of the first recorded tin stamps in the Duchy (1493) and its 18th century tin mine makes Poldark one of Cornwall’s most important heritage sites. Situated in the picturesque Wendron Valley, once the scene of intense industrial activity, the site’s attractive surroundings and gardens belie its industrial past.
Poldark is once again the scene of activity with craft workshops run by local crafts people including antique restorers, candle makers, chandelier repairers, pottery makers and wood turners. Poldark is by far Cornwall's most popular mining heritage site. We receives no public funding support but are assisted by volunteers including Cornwall Mine Rescue Organization
